You can try this out already, WebKit supports SVG fonts and these can be used via @font-face rules.

Apache Batik provides a TTF to SVG font converter:

  http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/batik/tools/font-converter.html

You can also use FontForge to create SVG fonts.
