That's reasonable, but it does constrain the form of the obfuscation. 
Presumably it would need to be something very simple and direct, such as 
changing the first four bytes of the file? This would make it very easy 
for user-agents to determine whether it was an obfuscated font or not, 
without needing to rummage around in the TrueType table structures.
