I agree. I vote we settle on <style> and <script>. Are they likely to 
mean anything else, ever?
    

<style> could indicate something in an XML format designed to describe
a fashion catalogue.

<script> could be the root element of an XML format for movie scripts.
  
Good examples, although the fashion and movie industries might not appreciate being seen as reasons for the web to avoid agreement on important matters, and could be persuaded to use other terms, or specify content types.
