I like the thought of vertically-symmetric, it would be nice to create 
layouts which expand vertically instead of horizontally.

However it should really be depending on text direction of the box (left 
to right or top to bottom).

So I guess horizontally-symmetric isn’t really a good name... maybe 
half-symmetric? Heh, there must be a better name.
