width:120%

Does anybody know real life examples when 
percent blocks dimensions with values over than 100% are useful? 

I can see purpose of let's say width:120%-from-width-of-previous-sibling. 
But have no idea what is the purpose of width:120%-of-a-container.

Just phylosophicaly curious.
