Quite frankly, I'm not clear on what most of this paragraph is saying...  So I'm 
not sure whether this proposal addresses the concerns we had or not.

One drawback to this proposal (from Ian's point of view, if nothing else) would 
be that you can't end up with an intrinsically sizing image.
