So would I. I would really, really like a syntax that could do that. 
The icing on the cake would be if it also behaved cleverly with respect 
to the size of the browser in additional ways, e.g. with your "thinner 
viewport" mode, I want:

|[  ][    ]|
|[        ]|

Not:

|[  ][ ]   |
|[        ]|

Even if the content doesn't fill out the area of the second float.
