Can CSS do this?

I'd like to be able to specify the aspect ratio for things. For example

    object {
        width: 50%;
        aspect: 2:1;
    }

What I have in mind are object inclusions that do not have their own
intrinsic dimensions (for example, consider a vector graphic). Is this
possible in CSS2? If not, I suggest this functionality for CSS3.
