Necessary but not sufficient ...

Which implies that other things are also used to reference a font
descriptor. To find out what, read the CSS2 spec, in particular this
section:

15.3.2 Descriptors for Selecting a Font: 'font-family', 
'font-style', 'font-variant','font-weight', 'font-stretch' 
and 'font-size'
