SMIL 2.1 Is a W3C Candidate Recommendation 2005-05-16: W3C is pleased to announce the advancement of the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL 2.1) </TR/2005/CR-SMIL2-20050513/> to Candidate Recommendation. Comments are welcome through 15 June. SMIL (pronounced "smile") puts animation on a time line, allows composition of multiple animations, and describes animation elements for any XML-based host language.
