Re: SMIL in SMIL?

In a message dated 98-10-15 01:23:15 EDT, you write:

<< I think SMIL players should support navigation if SMIL documents have
hyperlinks, and navigation does not work with SMIL in SMIL either.

but navigation does work, no ?

SMIL can include objects that include hyperlinks - see RealText, or HTML. SMIL
in SMIL is just another format that can include hyperlinks from that
perspective.

But you may have a point, actually - when you click on a link in an embedded
SMIL file, its "show" value only has an efffect on the embedded media object
(that's what the SMIL spec says).

so, if you have "show="replace", the embedded SMIL document would be replaced
within the layout region in which is it contained. If the SMIL file was not
embedded, but rather part of the presentation, the whole presentation would be
replaced when the link is followed.

Same thing for "pause" - only the embedded SMIL object pauses vs. the whole
presentation pauses.
