SMIL strongly recommends the use of XML namespaces to manage any
extensions:

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-smil/#Appendix

The syntax used for namespaces has changed recently:

http://www.w3.org/TR/WD-xml-names

At the moment, no further changes are planned for this draft.

Did somebody implement the new draft ? Note that it contains a couple
of new things (default namespace, scoping rules for namespaces). Any
comments from this experience ? Would be good to have them before we
make this a W3C recommendation - thanks !
