Any way to subclass XML datatypes in OWL?

One can imagine various elaborations of the XML datatypes that might be
defined as classes in OWL. For example a postal code is a string
(http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string) but you could state more
interesting things about it such as country of usage, introduction date
and format. Is is possible to subclass XML datatypes, directly or
indirectly? What is the best practice in this situation?

Thanks in advance.
