Open Ph.D. or PostDoc Position (Semantic Web and Search Technologies)

The Research Group KBS at L3S (Learning Lab Lower Saxony) seeks
applications for an open

      Ph.D. and PostDoc Position

available in the recently started EU/IST funded project ELENA. The
goal of ELENA is to design and implement smart learning spaces
enhanced by Ambient Intelligence and Semantic Web Technologies (see
our project homepage at http://www.elena-project.org/). Central design
principles of the ELENA infrastructure are dynamic learner profiles
and heterogeneous learning services implemented on top of both
peer-to-peer and server-based information networks. The newly opened
position (two positions have already been filled) will focus on
distributed and peer-to-peer information spaces as well as intelligent
search engine technology using both textual as well as metadata
information.

The prospective student or PostDoc is expected to hold a master's
degree or equivalent degree (e.g. German diploma) in computer science
or a Ph.D., respectively. The salary amounts to German BAT IIa or Ib
(which is roughly 35.000 to 41.000 Euro gross income per year
depending on age and marital status).

Potential candidates may find more detailed information at
