WISE 2005 aims at presenting novel solutions and approaches to web systems engineering in the dynamic, diverse, distributed and ever increasing volume of web-based data and applications. WISE 2005 is the first WISE conference

to be held in the USA. Previous WISE conferences were held in China (2000), Japan (2001), Singapore (2002), Italy (2003), and Australia (2004).

The international Program Committee selected 30 full papers, 20 short papers and 19 poster papers. The papers cover a wide and important variety of issues in Web

Information Systems Engineering such as Web mining, Semantic Web and Ontology,

XML and Semi-structured data, Web collaboration, P2P systems, and Web information

extraction.

The WISE industrial program includes 16 papers in the areas of Semantic Web, Service Oriented Architecture, Business Process Modeling and Web infrastructure. The technical program provides the opportunity to attend four tutorials covering:

1) Data grid management systems,

2) Web content mining,

3) Service design and implementation,

4) Building and managing SOA with Extensible Service Bus.

The tutorials are included in the conference registration fee.

A panel on Service oriented computing, two keynotes speakers from the financial industry, and an industrial key note are the highlights of the WISE program.

Finally, WISE include three workshops in the following areas:

1. Web Information Systems

2. Web-based Learning

3. Scalable Semantic Web Knowledge Base Systems

The technical program and additional program details are provided in the conference website.
