PhD Scholarship

PhD Scholarship in Computer Science in New Zealand 
(Event Driven Workflow Engine Development)

With a successful application, $93K is granted via the Foundation for
Research, Science & Technology (FRST) of New Zealand. Applications are
invited for a PhD fellowship in Information Sciences and Technology
(IIST), Massey University, New Zealand. 
Supervisors/mentors: Dr Wang and Dr. Buckley 
The successful applicant will work in a collaborative project, Event
Driven Workflow Engine, between Dr. Wang, IIST, Massey University
(Palmerston North) and Dr. Buckley, Excibir Ltd (Wellington, New
Zealand). The student will reside in Palmerston North and Wellington
depending on the phase of the research.
The ideal candidate should possess a first class degree(s) in Computer
Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a
relevant subject. Research experience would be a distinct advantage, but
an aptitude and willingness to learn the skills would also be
acceptable. Knowledge in Workflow and/or Knowledge Management are
desired but not necessary. The candidate should also have good
communication (oral and writing) and teamwork skills and with high
ethical standards. 
The stipend of the candidate is NZ $26K (tax free) per annual for three
years. Admission and tuition fees need to be paid by the candidate.
Overseas students can also apply, however, only students from Australia,
Germany and France pay NZ local rate of tuition fees (NZ $1,599 per
year). Students from other countries will have to pay overseas student
fees (NZ $17,900 per year).

offer from Excibir Ltd. once you finish your PhD thesis. In other words,
if you want to work in industry in the future, your employment is
guaranteed after you successfully finish your PhD on time with a high
standard. 
Excibir is a Java software development company established in March of
2002. Leaded by Dr. Buckley, the company has developed a web content
management system which is currently being marketed and performs
services around that content management solution. 
We are also looking for Master and PhD students to work in the areas of
Knowledge Management, Mobile Applications, Computer Graphics, and
Modelling Complex Systems (e.g. financial market, traffic flow). Various
scholarships and financial assistances will be available for the
candidates who have good or excellent academic records (MSc NZ
$10,000~20,000, PhD NZ $10,000~25,000 per annul)
