We have an implementation of XQuery, called Galax,
which is implemented in O'Caml.  The source is
available and can be downloaded from:
http://db.bell-labs.com/galax/

I also suggest that you look at the many 
early implementations of XQuery listed here:
http://www.w3.org/XML/Query
