Summary of 13 January 2003 Patent Policy Working Group Teleconference

Hello,

Twenty-three attended the 13 January 2003 Patent Policy Working
Group (PPWG) teleconference. After reviewing their agenda the group
covered three Last Call [1] issues [2].

First was a continuation of issue L3. Stemming from comments from
PPWG participants sent to the group mailing list, the group
discussed whether there is a latent field of use restriction in the
draft policy and whether specific patents must be identified. The
Chair will circulate an amended response to issue L3 commenters for
     the group's approval.

Second, the group considered edits to section 2.1 and section 3 of the
draft policy. The Chair accepted an action item to draft a response
     for issue L9.

Third, the group discussed whether it is necessary to expand the
definition of "interim license" in response to issue L10. The group
will choose between retaining, eliminating, and clarifying the term.

The PPWG meets next face to face on 28-30 January.
