Patent Policy

This proposal for allowing patented web standards is a short-sighted
and egregious mistake.  The Internet should be based on open standards
with no barriers to entry or implementation.  The RAND acryonym is no
help either, since it merely means "available only to those rich enough
to shell out the hefty fees."  The Internet should not become the play-
thing of the media companies (any more than it already is).
