Look, this is very simple. W3 is *not* a group that should be involved in for-profit activities of *any kind*! Sure, there can be some folks who want to invent and profit from some kind of protocols, that's fine and dandy - but it has *nothing* to do with the W3 charter or mission. W3 is defined as, and needs to remain, a group focusing on *open standards* that have *absolutely no barriers* for entry by anyone. Let Microsoft, IBM and others attempt to profit from their inventions on their own - do not involve W3 in this business!
