Greetings.  Intelligent personal assistants are popular and in the news, Cortana, Google Now, Siri, et al.  Reportedly, some are interoperable with contextual metadata (e.g. http://schema.org/) in hypertext-based emails as well as other content.




Some intelligent personal assistant topics pertaining to education technology include: digital textbooks, syllabi, presentation slides, lecture notes and other documents, the enhanced desktop search of collections of digital textbooks and of lecture notes, and data formats and metadata formats (e.g. http://schema.org/) and voice-based user interfaces for searching and retrieving user content, enhanced desktop search.  An interesting technical topic is the interoperability between collections of digital textbooks, natural language and semantic contents, and intelligent personal assistant technologies and multimodal voice-based user interfaces.




Platforms and intelligent personal assistants can utilize multimodal input, data from multiple applications as well as data from materials such as digital textbooks, syllabi, presentation slides, lecture notes and other documents to enhance contexts for multimodal input, speech and handwriting recognition (http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-math/2014Jan/0002.html).





Furthermore, BCP47 (http://tools.ietf.org/html/bcp47), a technology for indicating languages, is pertinent to speech API’s, intelligent personal assistant API’s as well as to linguistics data corpora (e.g. https://www.ldc.upenn.edu/).
