                          Call for Demos

5th SIGdial Workshop on Discourse and Dialogue

                Cambridge/MA, April 30 and May 1, 2004

                  (immediately preceding HLT-NAACL)
____________________________________________________________________________

As part of SIGDIAL 04 (http://sigdial04.eml-research.de), we solicit
demo presentations of speech and/or natural language systems with
discourse or dialog/conversation capabilities. We welcome researchers
who wish to present demos using discourse and dialogue in a wide range
of efforts (including, for example, corpora annotation, reference
resolution systems, discourse act parser, tutorial systems, embodied
conversational characters, meeting room agents, spoken language agents
interacting via telephone, help agents, humanoid robots conversing
with people, etc.).

Submission of a 1-2 page description of the demo is required.

Submission format: Submissions must be electronic in PDF format and
should follow the format of ACL proceedings (except that SIGdial04
demo submissions should include author information since reviewing
will not be blind). Authors are strongly encouraged to use the LaTeX
style files or MSWord equivalents available on the HLT/NAACL website.

Submission procedure: A PDF file of the paper must be uploaded onto
the system by March 29, 2004 via the SIGdial04 submission webpage
available from http://sigdial04.eml-research.de. Authors who cannot
submit a PDF file electronically should contact the program chairs in
advance of the paper submission deadline. Authors will not have an
opportunity to submit a revised demo description if the demo is
accepted, so everyone is advised to provide a submission they consider
final.

Demo submitters will be notified by April 7th about acceptance of
their submissions. No additional documentation will be required. The
demo submissions will be collated together as a booklet and provided
to all participants at the SIGDIAL '04 meeting.
