That one is a known limitation with a bug raised in the webkit bugzilla
by the person who was developing the mathml code. It's probably worth
saying that it's actually a quality of rendering issue rather than
strictly a bug since the MathML spec explicitly says that not all
renders can stretch all symbols and that stretching may be ignored.

So it's a feature request rather than a bug report really that this be
implemented (one can "star" bugzilla entries to raise their profile)

horizontal stretching is

https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72828

and in general

https://bugs.webkit.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=MathML
