er yes, thanks for reporting this.

If you look at the rendering of the mathml in a mathml aware browser

http://www.w3.org/TR/MathML2/chapter3.xml#id.3.3.2.3

Then clearly (now you point it out) the rendering of the MathML isn't
like that of the sample image.

It's true that your suggested MathML is closer to the sample image, but
I think it would be better if we split it up into two examples. One of a
binomial coefficient (with linethickness=0) and one with the nested
fraction. Or to put in an extra set of {} into the alt attribute so the
TeX generated image matches the MathML and has the a choose b construct
before the fraction, not in the numerator.

Either way, we should clearly fix this for the next draft
of MathML3, thanks.
