  I will send a modified stylesheet in the next days.

I would extend the "prefered renderer" option by a
ordered list of renderers, like

<html pref:renderer="mathplayer techexplorer images css">

than the stylesheets looks for

1.) MathPlayer installed? (if not go to 2.)
2.) Techexplorer installed (if not go to 3.)
3.) do the math nodes have "altimg" attributes? (if not go to 4)
4.) css

Sounds sensible to me (although I don't think I have time to do this
right now, if someone would like to supply some code....)

Do you envision circumstances where this mode could be selected
automatically, or would it just be an option to set up with the
preferences namespace attribute?
