htmime code crashes on win95

Hi,
Has anyone successfully compiled and run w3c and linemode browser on win95
with visual c++4.0?  Both crashes on me in the line
 if ((status = (*me->target->isa->put_block)(me->target, b, l)) != HT_OK)
        return status;
Any help is much appreciated.
