libwww with HTTP 1.1

Libwww was working fine for Tomcat 3.3a server.  When I run it with
Tomcat 4.1 server, which uses chunked transfer encoding, libwww does not
work well.  The HTEvent_loop spins for a ling time and then returns
chunk encoded data (chunk size, data ....).  Has anybody experienced
same problem.  Any solutions?
