make distclean leaves Makefiles

When I do a "make distclean" in my
libwww working directory, the following
files are left behind:

./configure
./Library/Test/User/Makefile
./Library/Test/src/Makefile
./Library/Test/Makefile
./PICS-client/LablPars/Makefile
./PICS-client/RatPars/Makefile

I'm not a very experienced "autoconf" user,
but I thought that "make distclean" was
supposed to remove all of the make files
and the configure script.

Are these files supposed to be there
after "make distclean"?
