c++/g++ configure error on solaris 2.6 x86, gcc 2.8.1

Hi,

Just wanted a to report that when configuring from w3c-libwww 5.2.6
on solaris 2.6, the script complains about my c++ & g++ not
being able to build binaries correctly.  Problem goes away 
when I comment out references to c++ & g++ in the configure,
allowing it to default to gcc for everything.
