Do you mean adding a stream that can convert from one media type to another? 
If it is done in the same address space then it's called a HTConverter, 
otherwise it's a HTPresenter.

You can find some examples of how to set of stream converters and presenters 
in for example the Command Line Tool, and you can also find a description in 
the User's guide at
