WIN32 build of 4.0

Greetings to everybody of waning patience,

I have been terribly busy for the last 10 days and have been unable to
attend to the build problems. I will hopefully get to them on monday.
Sorry for the delay. 

I'm not sure what I can do concearning releases while Henrik is away, 
however, I may be able to provide helpfull patches or hints.
