Creating protected directory for specific users

I created `protected' directory as in
http://www.w3.org/Jigsaw/Doc/User/authentication.html ,
How do I access this directory ?   http://localhost:8001/protected ? It does
not work even if I manually create this directory in WWW.

I want to store servlets (i.e. ServletA, ServletB, etc.)  in that directory.
Do I need to update any property file ?
My URL should be http://localhost:8001/protected/ServletA  ?? 

I am runnig jigsaw 2.0.4 under NT and I have JDK 1.2
