The sccop is that next release of Jigsaw (due to w3c members today,
and to the public in a month) will have a new interface (in fact a
cleanup of the Client/ClientFactory API), that will allow for very
easy integration of SSL.

If someone is interested in going ahead (using whatever Java-SSL
code), I'll be glad to help.
