All top browsers support internal subset it in XML (I've tested Opera,  
Safari and Firefox). If it didn't work for you, you've probably sent your  
document as HTML.

So the W3C Validator is wrong. It does not respect document's  
Content-Type, and tries to find valid document where there isn't such.
