I fully agree with you both.

I think the outstanding issues are too many and XHTML 2.0 too important for 
not giving it another working draft.
I'd also wish there'd be a complete version of XHTML 2.0 including a 
definition in XML Schema and DTD before the recommendation phase.
The last public working draft has been published in may, that's 6 months ago 
now, much has been discussed since.
