How about a repeating "header" down the full length of one or both 
sides of the screen? Also, I remember reading something about table 
headers staying in the same place as the rest of the table scrolls, 
or something like that, without frames. Maybe you can put all your 
non-header information in a table and use that technique, however it 
works.
