For current AOL versions, yes. But for "older" versions (he didn't 
say how old) they tried browsers from different companies (Intercon, 
Booklink, etc.).

  and the number of AOL members was around 150,000 -- all Mac and Apple ][ --
  and they were still known as Quantum Computer Services.
