off-topic regarding off-topics

i've subscribed to this list some 2 years ago, and have never digested it
fully. i've read html 3.2, 4.0 recs as well as css 1.0. i write code and
develop projects, and this is completely off-topic. i've never contributed
to the list, because it's way beyond my capabilities (and responsibilities).
meaningful is:

1. this list is probably the single most important one on the net, regarding
the web.

2. it's aimed at consolidating and developing standards. not philosophy or
sheer envy.

3. anyone even considering sending mail to this list should FIRST:
    - read carefully what this is all about
    - read ALL (not one ore two) specs discussed here
    - read previous listings and replies

4. the noble men that embraced the task of establishing standards should
ignore ANYTHING not meaningful to this list in favor of their endeavour.

it is off-topic and probably out of line, but since i and my family (5 kids,
2 wives) depend on the future of this thing - it becomes a major concern.
