how can I running my counter.cgi file in my linux2.0.30 server with perl5.002 from ogata on 1998-09-25 (www-html@w3.org from September 1998)

hi,
how can I running my .cgi file in my linux2.0.30 server with perl5.002.
The httpd server is apache1.2 and html-software is homebuilder3.0
I try to run counter.cgi  file in the dir. of .../httpd/bin-cgi/counter.cgi,
counter.dat,pal.dat,dig0-9.dat
but,that don't show image of counter on my homepage .
would you like to provide me some hint?
