The two image problem was menitoend (when do they load?  What if they
are different sizes?  etc...)

How about this:

<INPUT TYPE=image SRC="buttonup.gif" PRESS>

This just does what the BUTTON element does. Same image, but rendered with
that psuedo beveled effect for the look of being pressable.
