Not in any standards compliant browser.  While it MAY work today in some
browsers that are loose about standards, we are moving forward with systems
like DOM which will need much stricted adherence to correct coding.

So the answer is no.  It does not work in all browsers today and is likely
to work in fewer in the future.

Don't do it.  There is no reason to.
