Interactive HTML

Along the lines of interactive HTML forms, is there a syntax that
covers being able to tell what INPUT tag was active when the
form was submitted?  Like having 5 fields on the form, and the
user presses the HELP(submit) button, it would be nice to
send back context sensitive help based on the active INPUT tag
they were on.
