HTTP dialogs

I am creating a specialized web server and have been reading all the  
docs I can find.  I have a web client connecting and issueing a  
request element and the server responding, but it is slow going since  
the documentation is totally theoretical.  I need some example HTTP  
dialogs to speed up my development.  Does anyone know where to find  
some?
