'media' attribute case-sensitive?

The HTML 4.01 specification notes the case sensitivity of the 'media' attribute as case-insensitive in  <http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/present/styles.html#adef-media>, but <http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/types.html#type-media-descriptors> indicates that the attribute is case-sensitive.
