I wanted something better than html forms, so I looked at
www.novell.com/xforms for a long time.

I now give up on xforms for the time being.
I decided to use flash firefly data glue thing, it is rich client
executing on the client side.
Flash has better browser support than xforms. I will release on
news.basebeans.com mvc forum a sample application using action script
that talks to server beans via xml, of what benefits I wanted from xforms.

My suggestion to any x:froms spec writers is to involve a browser team
like mozilla and include support for ecma like script.
