Yes,

it is possible to access new groups by www4mail. 

1. you can get the URL of a NEWS <--> WEB gateway. Then request for that
	URL.

2. you can specify your URL using 
	news://news.xyz.abc.com/alt.soc.africa

	If you only know the domain name of a news server.

Please keep us informed about how it goes. I did not test this option too
well.
