As an aside, based on those old tests of yours I found this bug in HTML:  
http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=12230 Maybe we should  
introduce some consistent terminology that specifications can use to  
associate default handlers for an event of a certain type with an object.  
(I now wonder whether an event with type submit and interface MouseEvent  
will also trigger submission...)
