Pre-4 W2K Find and Replace problem

I have Pre-4 installed on W2K and the Find/Replace refuses to work.

I highlighted the text I wanted to search for, and pasted it in the find box.
I then pasted it again in the replace box, removing the text I no longer
wanted. Selected auto replace and complete document.

I then clicked on Confirm and I get a Not Found and the select where jumped
to After Selection.

Huh? The text I'm searching for is obviously in the document as I did a
copy-n-paste of said text, yet Amaya says that it isn't there. Wrong!

Is there a fix?
