Minor text selection issue...

9.99-4 on WinXP Sp2

Move the text cursor partway through a line then, holding the shift key, 
move the cursor down one line, selecting the text from where the cursor 
was, to where the cursor currently is. Then keep hold of shift and press 
End. I'd have expected the selection to be extended to the end of the 
current line. What actually happens is that the cursor is moved to the 
end of the preceding line and the selection is lost.

There's similar odd behaviour when performing the same operation but 
using the Home key
