Re: Comments about "Multiple spaces converted into one"

It will be great to have the ability to preserve multiple spaces.

I imagine Amaya being much more widely used, by people who mostly know
something about HTML and how it's internal processes require special
coding for multiple spaces to be rendered in the browser. I imagine
these people will generally expect transparent handling of multiple
spaces from author to reader by the HTML system (editor, file and
browser) and for the benefit of these people, I suggest the option be on
by default. If it is off, then the danger is that they will be
frustrated by Amaya gobbling spaces, and will use something else rather
than look for an option to preserve spaces.

Backwards compatibility only affects current Amaya users. I believe
that these will be few in number compared to new users in the future. I
think that current users will generally be technically savvy, will
recognise the changed behaviour and will go looking for an option to
restore old behaviour if they prefer it.
